How do I become a citizen of Avalon?

Many travel to Avalon, some stay only a short time and a few decide to make the Isle their home. Once this decision has been reached you need to find a citizen in good standing to support your pledge and present it to the Queen, assuming your petition is accepted, an exciting journey then begins.

A small token is issued that the newly pledged can wear on their cloak, to show all that they are considering this step. Over time, the newly pledged is observed to ensure they can uphold everything that Avalon stands for, a friendly, helpful nature, willingness to learn, appropriate court etiquette, honour and loyalty.

Should the Queen decide to accept your application for citizenship a small, yet very personal ceremony is performed. Make of this as you will, this is YOUR moment. From this time forward you may claim to be a Citizen of Avalon and wear such upon your cloak, you will be entitled with “Lord” or “Lady” and may use this if you wish. Your portrait will grace the wall of the Great Hall and you may support anothers pledge to become citizen should you judge that one worthy. As with all citizens you will be given certain tools, some will help you move around your new home with ease, others will help you protect it.

Now you are Vale of Avalon (an OOC note)

Once you have pledged to Avalon a few things will change. Some changes will be done by yourself, others will be carried out by the Administrators. Firstly, you may add the words "of Avalon" to your cloak, and you will now be known as "Lord" or "Lady". Should you wish, your other characters may also become "of Avalon", please notify an Admin if you wish them to do so. Your other characters will enjoy all the priviledges of your main character EXCEPT, they may not be known as "Lord" or "Lady" unless they have pledged in their own right.. No character who considers home to be another realm will be considered as "of Avalon", even if the player has a character pledged to Avalon. Players with characters in other realms may pledge a character to Avalon so long as that character considers Avalon to be their home.

Pregnancy, handfasting, entitlement to land etc. are only permitted to Vale of Avalon citizens, all such events should be RPed where possible but do please seek advice from an Admin if you are unsure on how to proceed with a proposed storyline. Visitors to Avalon, including those played by a person with a pledged character are NOT permitted to RP pregnancies and handfastings unless permission has been granted by their own ruler. Avalon enjoys a good relationship with other realms and will not allow players to overcome the rules of their home realm. If in doubt, please ask before proceeding with a storyline.

Once you have pledged an Admin will endevour to spend some time with you, ensuring you have and know how to use all the extra priviledges afforded to you, this will include, access to the VOA board and places within the Vale only accessable to Avalons' citizens. We expect all who are pledged to Avalon to take a part in maintaining their home, by the same token, it is important to us that you are happy with your new status and understand the new tools you will be given.
